Who We Are

We are a hungary based ngo working with art and art therapy

Amarant Association exists in the form of association since 2006. We believe in the tool of art and experimental theraphy in the process of promoting social integrity. We have been working with different groups with social or mental disabilities and with children and adults from the normative society. It is very important for us in our work to narrow the gaps between majority society and those who are in the periphery.

We have been working mostly with children and young adults between 12-24 living in difficult circumstences and from 2014 also with unaccompanied minors. We organize art therapy sessions and communal activities weekly, and camps during summer.

Our main methods are:
community music playing,
Parlour game activities
Silk painting
Felting
social juggling
creative journal

The aim of our activities are to let the members of the group experience themselves as children - and to reconnect to reality according to their ages. Methods of experiential education are a good way to achieve. This, and our special programs provide them a possibility to ‘play the trauma out’ of themselves. During our activities we bear in mind the three main principles of experiential education: 1. happiness heals, 2. laughter and happiness are the basic elements of life, 3. playing strengthens children.
